Sales and marketing are distinct but interdependent functions within an organization, both aiming to attract and convert prospects into customers. However-

  • Marketing informs and attracts leads, whereas sales directly engages with prospects to convert them. 
  • Marketing focuses on broad outreach, utilizing strategies like internet marketing and social media, while sales targets specific groups with methodologies such as SPIN Selling and the Challenger Sale. 
  • Sales involves pushing products in the market whereas marketing is about understanding consumer needs and then creating a product.
