Mukul lent ₹9,300 on simple interest in two parts. He earned 5% per annum on the first part and 8% per annum on the second part. The total interest he received after 4 years is ₹2,400. What is the ratio of the money lent at 5% to that lent at 8%?I tried solving this question using the alligation method, but my answer was still wrong. What's my mistake? In an exam, the average marks scored by 48 candidates is 75. The maximum possible marks in the exam are 100. If the passing marks are 40, then the maximum number of students that can fail is? Can we take the maximum marks scored by a student as 100 and the failing students scoring 0 marks to maximize the number of failed students? In this situation 12 students can fail and the remaining 36 students will score 100 marks

A container has a 24L mixture of milk and water in the ratio 5:3. Some water is added to 24 liters of this mixture to make the ratio of water to milk 4:3, now half of this new mixture is removed and replace with same amount of milk then one-fifth of the mixture is replaced with water, what is the amount of water in the final solution must be added so the quantity of water comes to its original quantity? This is the question This is the solution that is given for this for this question. When they are removing one fifth of the final solution why have they not added that amount of water in the final step? Is it a mistake or am I missing something?(Solution)- initially the amount of milk is 5/8x24=15L and water is 3/8x24=9LNow in order to make ratio of milk: water= 3:4, we need to add 11L of water to the solution, water now will be 9+11=20LNow half mixture is removed and replaced with milk Now new amount of milk and water will be 25L and 10L respectivelyNow one-fifth of solution is removed and replaced with waterSo now new amount of milk and water will be 20L and 8L respectivelyNow we have 8L of water so we need to add 1L of water in order to achieve the original quantity of water =1
