Unable to understand the rules of narration

Started 3 weeks ago by Riddhi Jain in

Here I am unable to understand what are the 1st, 2nd or 3rd person of pronoun. And also there are changing on the basis of subject or object of reporting verb. I am unable to identify the subject or object of reporting verb either. Can you please point them out in the example and let me know that according to what, what all changes are made. It would be better, if there would be more such examples. Lastly, when we change to indirect speech the short forms like 'I'm' or 'doesn't' changes into 'I am' or 'does not' respectively? And does direct and indirect speech comes in XAT also?debd4d56-ad58-4414-848e-99730e1471b5.jpg 106.29 KB

The image outlines rules for converting direct speech to indirect speech: 1st Person Pronoun: Change according to the subject of the reporting verb. Example: The teacher says, โ€œIโ€™m eligible for the competition.โ€ Indirect: The teacher says that they are eligible for the competition. 2nd Person Pronoun: Change according to the object of the reporting verb. Example: She says to me, โ€œYou have completed your homework.โ€ Indirect: She tells me that I have completed my homework. 3rd Person Pronoun: Remains unchanged. Example: Father says, โ€œSiya doesnโ€™t work hard.โ€ Indirect: Father says that Siya doesnโ€™t work hard.

So, in first point, what is the first person pronoun? And what is subject of the reporting verb on the basis of which it is changing?

So what is the change o the basis of the reporting verb & any other example to show a different change because of the reporting verb. So, can you please explain this part? I would rather request you to explain all the three points if possible.
